A Practice Built Around the Person, Not the Process
bodhicoud was formed in Bangkok to offer personal injury legal services to those who need careful consideration, not a sales conversation.
Back to HomeThe Story Behind the Practice
bodhicoud takes its name from the Bodhi tree — the tree under which considered decisions are said to take shape. The name reflects something we believe: that good legal counsel begins with stillness, not urgency.
The practice was established in Bangkok's Sathorn district by lawyers with backgrounds in Thai civil litigation and personal injury representation. Over the years, we observed that many injured people — especially visitors to Thailand, and residents unfamiliar with the civil courts — arrived at legal consultations confused, pressured, and unsure what to expect. Our response was to build something different: a small, focused practice that explains each step before it is taken.
We work on a limited number of matters at any time. This is a deliberate choice. Each client's situation receives attention from a qualified practitioner, not a junior assistant working from a template. The three services we offer — road traffic accident claim representation, medical negligence initial review, and insurance claim letter preparation — were selected because they address the most common needs of injured individuals in Thailand, and because they are services we can deliver to a high standard within a clear scope.
Our clients include residents of Bangkok managing the long process of recovering from a serious road incident, expatriates who have encountered problems with medical treatment, and visitors who need help preparing a well-constructed letter to an insurer before returning home. We approach each situation with the same patience: first, we listen. Then, we explain what the law allows and what, in our view, is realistic. Then — and only then — we discuss whether to proceed.
Our Mission
To offer personal injury legal services in Thailand that treat the injured person as someone who needs clarity and care — not a conversion or a case number. We measure our work not by volume but by whether each person we helped understood what was happening and felt respected throughout the process.
Those Who Work on Your Matter
Nattapong Teerawat
Principal — Civil Litigation
Called to the Thai Bar with fifteen years of civil court practice, Nattapong leads road traffic accident matters and court appearances. He works closely with clients to explain what each hearing means in plain terms.
Sunita Khamwong
Senior Associate — Medical Matters
Sunita holds additional qualifications in medical ethics and has reviewed more than two hundred medical negligence matters. Her reviews are direct: she explains both what may be possible and what the record does not support.
Priya Lindqvist
Associate — Documents & Client Liaison
Priya manages insurance claim correspondence and serves as the main point of contact for international clients. Fluent in English and Thai, she ensures nothing is lost between languages or jurisdictions.
How We Work
The principles that govern our practice day to day.
Thai Bar Membership
All lawyers at bodhicoud are members of the Lawyers Council of Thailand and hold practising certificates in good standing. We appear in the Bangkok Civil Court and have done so continuously since the practice was established.
Honest Assessment Before Action
We do not take on a matter we cannot describe clearly. Each enquiry receives a considered response that includes our view of its merits — even when that view is that the matter should not proceed.
Client Confidentiality
All client information is held under strict professional confidentiality. We do not discuss matters outside the team without explicit authorisation, and we keep records securely and for no longer than required.
Plain Communication
Legal terminology is kept to what is necessary. When technical language is unavoidable, we explain it. Our written correspondence is drafted to be read and understood, not filed and forgotten.
Scoped Engagements
Each service has a written scope. You know what is included and what is not before we begin. If a matter grows beyond the original scope, we discuss this with you before any additional cost is incurred.
Care for Recovery
Many of our clients are still recovering from injury. We pace our communication to what you can manage, and we do not create urgency where none genuinely exists. Your recovery matters alongside your legal matter.
Personal Injury Legal Practice in Bangkok
Thai civil law provides remedies for people injured through the fault of another party. The Civil and Commercial Code addresses tortious liability and establishes the framework within which compensation claims are made — whether through direct negotiation, insurer engagement, or Civil Court proceedings. bodhicoud works within this framework daily.
Road traffic accident claims in Thailand involve specific documentation requirements: police reports, hospital admission records, medical expense receipts, and photographs of the scene and vehicle damage. The strength of a claim often depends on how completely this record is gathered in the days and weeks after an incident — a period when many injured people are still managing treatment. We assist with this coordination so that nothing is lost to time.
Medical negligence claims require a different kind of analysis. Thai courts apply a standard of reasonable medical care, assessed against what a competent practitioner in the same specialty would have done. Establishing a departure from that standard requires careful review of the clinical record and, in most cases, expert input. Our initial review service helps clients understand whether that threshold is likely to be met before they commit to a full investigation.
Insurance claim letters — even for matters that settle without litigation — carry significant weight. A poorly drafted letter may undervalue a claim or fail to establish the facts the insurer needs to assess liability. Our letter preparation service exists because many injured people, particularly visitors to Thailand, have a strong underlying claim but lack the document to present it clearly.
